Steering Column Part Identification
I've exhausted myself searching for this in the forums, but I can't find anything on the particular issue I have. There's a spring loaded wire that goes from the airbag/horn assembly into the steering column that locks into a plastic retainer. The plastic retainer it locks into is snapped off below the locking slot, so it will no longer engage the retaining tab. What is the name of the part that this is attached to? From what I can see on parts diagrams, it looks like it's the cancel cam, but I can't see for sure because the diagrams are so vague.
I have the wire epoxied into place right now, but now I have the shorted horn pad issue, making the horn stay on all the time
. So since I'm going to be in there anyway, I want to fix it the right way this time. Also, are there any special tools I'll need to fix this other than a steering wheel puller?1999/C5/A4, Telescoping Column, Column lock bypass has been performed.

I'm sure there is a procedure for it outlined in the FSM. I've never replaced one myself. I do now however, that the front wheels must be centered and pointing straight ahead when replacing it. Same for the steering as well. It must be centered and pointing straight.
According to them it's the cancel cam, not the clock spring. Thanks for the help LoneStar. I'm gonna see if I can get verification of success from the OP on that other thread since it was so recent.
