Well, I hate to admit it, but I kind of like the sound of my stock 2002 exhaust. I just added a Blackwing, and now at full throttle it has a kind of muffled roar sound to it. I was wondering who makes the best x-pipe for the money, I think this might be all I need to make the exhaust sound the way I want it to! Any suggestions appreciated. (Love the blackwing)
Thanks, :smash: :seeya
I was also considering eliminating the cats, and I see that you have an off road x-pipe for 259$. Can you tell me the pros and cons of this pipe versus the one that leaves the cats on? Thanks
The one for $259 bolts to the flanges on the manifolds. I'll have one in a couple of weeks that has flanges but it is spliced in at the bottom. That way you can change the cats in and out easily. That one will be $129 ,I believe. I'd save the bucks and go with the cheaper one. It will definately sound better without the cats. It may add a little torque also. It is sold and adverised as an "off road "pipe, though.
I have a qestion about removing the cats... Will this cause the car to back fire? I was thinking about that same mod! By the way nice car Robert
For price you might talk to Andy at A&A (Forum vendor).
I got the Basanni, and while they look great, I was unhappy with it. The pipe didn't fit my '00 and we had to scrounge around for bolts, washers and nuts to fix it. (The stock pipes had female threads to bolt into while the Basanni had none.) Also, the muffler guy noted that the two sides didn't seem quite right, and sure enough, when bolted on they lowered the exhaust outlets more than stock, which I also didn't like. For the price, I was very dissatisfied with it. And I doubt that it gives any hp gains nor is much better than some of the cheaper ones out there.
Our favorite is Bassani @ 249.00 but the 100.00 XMS pipie does the same job but is a weld on,Bassani is a slip fit.Make no mistake the 99.00-129.00 all vendors sell have gone up in recent popularity an X-pipe from Corsa,Bassani or the 100.00 1 all do the same job on exhuast pulses the 250.00 units look XTRA cool doing it and Bassani is still our #1 seller Corsa is 2nd.Dave
