Default Replacing ls1 intake with a ls6 intake

When replacing a ls1 intake with a ls6 intake can the ls6 throttle body be used? If so, what adjustments and or changes, if any, must be done to make the this change work successfully?

beaten to death for years and years.

There is no difference between a LS1 and LS6 throttle body other than the cool sticker. first make sure you dont already have a LS6 intake since after a certain year (01 i think) all vettes got the LS6 intake regardless of the model. then you have to decide on if you want to go the coolant bypass route or to shave off the casting ribs under the intake so that the original coolant lines can be used. ls1howto.com has all you need to know.

The change to the ls6 intake is on a 98 so it does not have the ls6 manifold. The throttle body on the ls6 is larger than what comes with the ls1. I think the ls1 is 74mm or 78mm and the ls6 is 80mm or 84mm. It seems to me there would be a benefit to a larger throttle body.

The TB's are the same size 78mm. You may be confusing the TB with MAF sizes.

all C5 TB's are the same. Just port yours or send it in to get done professionally to have a great TB-to-intake match up. The MAF upgrade goes from 74mm to 85mm from what I remember. I did it, but not sure if it really makes a difference.

NukeC5,
Thanks for the clarification on the size of the MAF. From what I have read on the forum, changing the MAF for more performance has not be measurable, unless I missed a thread somewhere. Also, porting the throttle body has not rendered much in way of performance on a stock ls1.

I do think porting the TB has some power potential, but mainly what your looking for is throttle response with this modification. That alone wakes the car up a bit.

Nuke,
I do not have the expertise to port the TB. Is there someone you recommend?

Nope, other than sending it lingenfelter or something. I have done my own on all my cars. Its very simple if you get into it. Your just boring out the lips inside and excess material, the sanding smooth with rough to light sand paper. Just stay away from the area where the throttle plate closes to avoid over porting.
