Well after experiencing the normal C5 stuff, HVAC dim display, fuel gage going to zero and sterring column lock issues I fianlly had the oil pressure gage peg out. Looking at several post concerning the removal and replacement I decided to try it without removing the intake. Wow not much space for my big mitts which forced me to get creative with mechanical fingers, safety wire and a congloberation of screw drivers. It took about an hour to get it out mostly because I had a hard time fishing the sender out once it was out of the hole. It took about 1.5 hours to get it back in. I looked at the intake and thought it would be more difficult. Next time I'll try it with removing the intake. Any guidance would help. Thanks to the forum for all the options.
Nice job! You just about got the C5 "to-do" list exhausted. I finally put the relocation kit on mine after the third sender. Here's hoping you don't have to do another OPS (for a while anyway).
By the time my OPS crapped out, I had already removed my intake at least twice...so it was a no-brainer. The first time you pull your intake will be the longest and hardest. Gets easier after that.
When I replaced my OPS recently, I used rubber bands to hold the back 2 manifold bolts up and out of the way...made removing the manifold a lot easier! Also, I stuff a paper towel into a zip-loc bag and tape it to the fuel supply tube after disconnecting it, to prevent fuel spillage.
My plan was to incorporate the jumper wire Richard from compliance sent me when my OPS went out. I disconnected the battery and pulled the OPS without removing the intake. PITA!!! But the batter was disconnected for 2+ days. Replaced the OPS and reconnected the battery and I no longer get the pull key message. I have everything ready should it return but I can't fix what isn't broken and if I made and changes, I wouldn't know if the old problem returned or the battery being disconnected allowed th BCM to retime. I drove the car today and all worked fine. How a thunk heh!
