Default hyper tech programmer or wait

I am installing long tubes, cat back and cold air next week and debating if I should put on the hypertech programmer. I plan to hp dyno in the somewhat near future but thats not in the budget right now. Is it worth it to program it now or just just wait untill dyno tune.

it is a 97 6 speed.

with what you are changing you will need a full tune. A hypertech programmer wont get the job done. You need to be able to adjust the fuel trims; not possible with the hypertech

100%

There are additional mods that you can also do and will add to your driving enjoyment.

18:1 rockers, Make sure that you get ungraded trunions and trunion pedestals.

Port the TB

2001+ MAF with reloacted IAT

I recommend VARARAM

Make SURE that your headers have an added bung in the collector for a wide band O2 sensor for your tuner to use.

The more MOD STUFF that you can add at one time and have tuned in, the better off and happier that you will be.

Trust Me,,,,
This modding thing is a SICKNESS and you will soon be looking for a set of heads, a new cam and a FAST 90 Manifold!

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Bill

Thanks BC. This is the first set of mods I have done and I only bought the car 2 weeks ago. Now should I hold off on a tune for a couple months or do it after this full install. I have read different things. Some people are saying it will make a very noticeable difference after a tune with headers and all. If I don't tune for say 6 months will the car still run strong and will I get a noticeable gain. I want what's best for he car and my pocket.

The install won't start for another week or so now. Headers were on order so 7-10 days.

You can wait on tuning BUT,,,, you may have emissions DTCs (which will not hurt anything) and you may loose a few MPG due to high LTFTs ..

Once you get it tuned, you will say to your self,, Wow,, why did I wait so long?? LOL

Where do you live?? Do you have any tuners in your area??

Yea that's my goal! I am located in Philly about 80 minutes or so from east coast supercharges. It's either there or a mail order tune from Frost. Thoughts?
