I have a 1999 frc and sometimes it throws a code that states active handling system failure and the car display reads "engine powering down," and the car is limited in top speed. The car has 25,000mi on it, I did change the front tires to 275/45/18 and rear to 305/35/18. I called caspers electronics about the rtd simulators and they were unsure if that would fix it. My car does have original factory shocks on it, all I have done is tires, rear control arm bushings, and tranny diff brace. Any help would be much appreciated.
Excellent chance that your choice of tire sizes is the cause of your AH/TC problem
General rule of thumb is that the rear tires need to be between 1/2" and 1 1/2" larger in overall diameter than your front tires.
Your rear tires are about 26.3" tall while your front tires are 27.7" tall. You need a front tire that is about 25.5" tall if you want to keep the rear tire size.
In a word you have it a$$ backwards..........
You need a front tire that is about 25.8" or less tall if you want to keep your rear tire size.
So is there anything I can do to fix this besides buying new tires? Can I use a programmer to tell the car what tire size I have to fix the issue? Can a dealer do this for me? Thanks so much
