Ok, before you hit me. I already posted this in the radio section, seems really slow over there. Thought I would post here, where all of the brains seem to be. Anyway, my 99 Vert ,with I pod adaptor, stopped working today. It was working fine , but losing its time off and on.It was playing, then changed songs and I heard a buzz and it went dead. Got home and replaced the fuses that seem to be related to the radio ( just to be sure it wasnt my eyes), and nothing. How would one know if the radio just fizzed out? Any suggestions what to look for or at.
Thanks
Sure sounds like it went south on you. I assume nothing works (AM, FM, player, iPOD). Since the song changed and it was not keeping time correct it should not be related to the amp. Did you install the iPOD from the rear of the unit? Maybe if you did, the connection is loose, but don't think that would explain changing songs. Suggest you pull it and take it to a local repair shop and see what they say. There are vendors that can repair these units.
If it is bad, I just pulled a cassette unit from my car I was gong to sell on eBay. It is mint (no scractches or wear) and everything works. If you install it and it does not solve your problem you can return it. not sure if you want CD or cassette. I just wanted to put in a CD unit.
Sorry I'm so slow getting back, just stuff going on. Going to pull it today and take a look. If its is the radio, I may just upgrade to a newer one with a touch screen. BUt, thanks for the offer. Yes, the I POD was installed from the back, have had it in for several months, worked great until this.I am getting nothing, completely dead No COMM on the DIC.

Obtain a volt meter and actually measure the voltage at the fuses. On top of the fuse are two test points. Measure each one to chassis ground. The key will need to ON/RUN. You should see full battery voltage..
C5s have a bad habit of having bad ignition switch contacts.
Would that apply here as well? Everything else is working fine. The radio was working fine and in the middle of a tune change it hissed and blanked out? But, I will try to check, I do have a meter, but not an expert with one for sure.

Ok,, Thats good info.. Use the DIC to read and post the radio DTCs. Post your codes.
Well, as luck would have it. Tore into it and found that the radio had someway managed to become disconnected? Maybe I didn't have it plugged in good enough after I put the Ipod adaptor in several months ago. Good news is it works, bad news is I am going to have to send the new touch screen radio back. My wife told me I should have just lied to her. While I was there, took my dim display climate control out and did some soldering on it, looks a lot better now and I guess its all up and running. Thanks for all the help, and to all the forum members who have posted so much useful information over the years! Us rookies appreciate it!
