Why do I have to tear down transmission? I thought maybe someone can pin point what is leaking. Maybe it is the reverse solenoid or skip shift solenoid or vent tube I thought someone run in to the same problem before.
Thanks for your input these are amazing threads for future re-built but in my case I just need to re-seal everything since this come out of 04 Z06, I will check those solenoids and maybe I will buy new went tube just in case.
Recommendation:
Just to insure that you dont put a damaged rear in your car.. Slip the output shafts in the rear and see how much force it takes to hold one hub and turn the other. A brand new rear will take approx 100ft/lbs+ to over come the friction disks.
If one or both of your clutch pack Beleview springs are broken, it will be really easy to over come the clutch friction disks.
The Bellevue washers in the diff tend to become cracked (especially if the car gets lots of wheel hop through lots of drag launches). The bellevue washers hold the clutch packs together. there are two of them.
Thanks guys, I will check everything before I put it back. It came out of our track car which got caged this winter and since everything was out we decide to fix these leaks. Thanks aging for all inputs on this.
I'm still recommending a tear down and inspection. You probably don't need to go as far as removing the tranny or diff gears, but a thorough inspection of the internals, along with a fresh set of gaskets and seals, would be wise investment at this time.
Basically you could do it now, or do it later along with the additional R&I labor.
