I got a good look at the Grand Am Corvette DPs at the GrandAm race in Austin last week. They had an open pit period on Friday allowing fans to have up close and personal looks at the cars with hoods and tails off and visit with pit crews. Way cool.
The headers on the Corvette DPs appeared to be shorty Try-Ys. Does anyone make these to fit a C5?
There are a few (Bellanger, Bassani) and QTP, who stopped making them several years ago but at the time they were the only stainless set (I run QTP's) As stated in the prior post, Pfadt is working on them. What is interesting is the later C5 cast manifolds are actually a Tri-Y design, which tells me GM new something based on their research as it is a more complicated design.
For the record, I did remove my QTP's a couple of years ago for a well known set of 4-1 headers and lost a lot of mid-range torque. Needless to say the QTP's are back on the car and not going anywhere while I own this car
I bought some used Basanis and they were not a quality part. Multi piece, very small merges and a 2.25" outlet. The flanges were weird and would have never sealed. So that ended up to be a $350 mistake.
I don't think I've ever seen a set of QTP come along used.....
The Pfadt will be expensive.
I was at the GrandAm race as well, those new Corvette Daytona Prototypes are beautiful! Got some close-ups of the Red Dragon, need to get them off nikon and posted up!....but back on topic, interested in hearing more, currently have TPIS LTs, which I consider more a mid-length header than a true LT. Any time frame on pfadt bringing these to market?
When did QTP cease production? Was it just a demand based decision?
They are more expensive to produce because of the extra welding required. Also, I had the air tubes cut off several sets of C5 headers and the custom exhaust guy I use told me the QTP's had the thickest tubing so there was likely extra money being spent there as well. They came with a Random Tech X pipe and Random Tech Cats so it was quality from front to back.

Damn. That sucks. I really would like to have a set since I'm not going for a dyno queen that makes high peak hp. So the LG Super Pros are in the future instead.
