I have a 2001 and the following codes come back after I clear all codes:
58-sdm u1040
10-pcm p1571
10-pcm p1689
40-bcm-b0432
I looked the codes up but need any ideas on were to begin looking. The service engine soon, service active handling, and abs lights are on. The abs light goes off sometimes and the ac will not come on until the abs light goes out. Any ideas?
First off what year do is the car ???...please include it in the thread or in your profile...this helps us help you !!...maybe PM the OP that initiated this thread...he may have had a repair...
the only thing I can see is that all DTC’s....RR DEFOG, HVAC, and EBCM “may” be caused by ignition switch as you can see in the FSM from my 2001...not knowing your skill set I would do a voltage drop across the ignition switch to the HVAC fuse !!
Did you use a 12 volt test light to check test point on top of the fuse or if you used a multimeter how exactly did you set up the test leads ??????....normally black lead to ground and red lead to each test point !!
If you do not have the HVAC fuse powered see if BCM 13 (fuse 22) is powered ??...also check ABSTRNS (fuse 5) is powered also...if no power connect red lead of multimeter to battery positive and black lead to both of those fuses test points...should not see more than .1 to .2 volts on multimeter with key ON...if you read 6 volts for instance on the meter this means only 6 volts is going through your ignition switch of the 12 volts available from the battery...this is basically voltage drop in a nutshell...this can also be done on a ground circuit !!
So hvAC fuse is dead key on or off. BCM fuse is hot 12 V. Abs 5 is dead. When I reverse leads and put red to battery positive and check HVAC and ABS5 with the black lead I get 12 volts on both terminals of the fuse.
mall done with key on. What does that tell me?
Is OXY SEN fuse 15 (Underhood) hot ??...just trying to see what fuses are being powered !!...if you are reading 12 volts from battery positive to whatever fuse you are checking basically that means no power is getting through the ignition switch to whatever fuse you are checking !!...yes, when using DVOM to check fuse black lead on ground and red lead on either test point...if one side is only hot fuse is blown...if 0 volts either side NO power down to the fuse !!...I’m surprised BCM FUSE 22 is hot !!...what about BTSIBU fuse 21 ??...it’s also downstream of the ignition switch !!
I just spent about 30 minutes and pulled the ignition switch. Gonna pick one up and replace to see if that solves any issues. Pulled the green cover and contacts look worn
