I'm sure this issue has been discussed numerous times in the forum but couldn't find anything relevant to my scenario so here goes...
I was downshifting from about 70mph when I dropped it into third and heard a noise then realized by active handling was malfunctioning and the infamous "service engine soon" got my attention. I was practically at work when this happened so I drove in and parked. Came outside about an hour later, fired her up, and all is well. Should I be concerned??
Just bought my 2002 Z06 a couple of weeks ago. This is my first issue.
The module can go bad over time. My AC/AH/ABS on the 2002 Z06 went bad many years ago. Removed the module entirely and enjoyed the car. The AH on the C5Z is crap anyway. Kicks in too soon and is overly aggressive.

For 90% of the people that have a C5/C6,,, AH/TC and Antilock brakes are GOOD things!
Why throw the baby out with the bath water??? Why not just cut out your seat belts, air bags. You can still enjoy the car without them.
Unless he has a specific EBTCM DTCs, it might have NOTHING at all to do with the EBTCM.
"service engine soon" Normally doesnt have anything to do with the EBTCM module. If you have a EBTCM problem you will see the SERVICE AH or TC or ANTI LOCk brake messages in the DIC
Please read and post your DTCs and you will get proper guidance on your problem.
Was it "service engine soon" or "Service active handling"? Big difference. It it is "Service active handling" there are many threads on this...to search it go to search at the middle top of the page then click "advanced search" then type in "EBCM" or "Service active handling" then change it to show titles only. Now scroll down the page and select C5 Corvettes, 1997-2004 then click search and you will get a list of post about it
