Just wondering if anyone can tell me how to replace my right front turn sgnal lamp on my '98. The book says to remove the front facia closeout panel, but I don't know what or where that is. Thanks.
I don't know. I can get atb the socket all right, but I can't get it to turn. Is there some kind of release on the socket? That paying the Chevy dealer $60 to do is starting to sound better.

Yes, at one end of the socket there is a clip that you have to push in to get it to turn, kind of a lock to prevent it from getting loose. You can feel it once you get your fingers on it. Once you get your fingers on it just keep feeling around the socket, you'll get it.
Did you not see my post above? It's simple just raise the front of the car a bit. Either use a jack or drive up on some boards. Trying to do it through the brake duct is a pain. Going from below will allow you to see what you are doing as well.

After 3 1/2 hours, I finally got the socket out. Now all I have to do is figure out how it goes back in. I suspect that may take another 3 1/2 hours. FYI. I watched that video and the guy said to get it out turn it clockwise. Come to find out, it's COUNTER clockwise.
I found a picture of the socket on-line so I knew where the catch was. I took the plastic cover around the headlight off and could get right at it. Found the catch, pushed it in and the turned it COUNTER clockwise instead of clockwise like the guy said in the video. It came right out. Then I pulled the socket out through the opening for the brake duct and replaced the lamp. Had a little problem getting the socket in the right position to get it back in, but I got it. I'm sure the next time will be a WHOLE lt easier. Much thanks for everybody's help.

Glad to hear you finally got it. The first time is always a bitch, but at least now you know. Glad we could help.
You can also reach the bulb from the topside, by opening the hood and reaching down along the frame, but for those that don't really want to tear up your arms, just remove the access panel behind the spoiler and you can see and remove it easily...
I found that I can remove the access panel just about as fast as trying to do it the "easy way".
