Hello, New to this forum but got a question rite off the bat. Ebay, etc has the "bolt kits" needed to lower the C5 and thier asking like $30. I would think I could go to Fastenal or similar and get the same bolts cheaper myself? What i need is the specs of the proper bolts, IE..length, thread, hardness, shoulder, etc etc. If the "kit" is the way to go then that info is appreciated also. Thanks
You could, and you'd get the same result, a bad handling rough riding car.
The search feature is your friend. Use it and you will see about a hundred threads explaining why it's a bad idea to lower your car that much unless you can get your hands on a set of shorter shocks.
Originals have M14 dia threads ( .540" ) and are about 6" long.
I got Grade 8 bolts 9/16 x 8". Get nuts and some flat washers too.
This gave up to 3" lower, I went with 2 as more will scrape too much.
Go to a local fastener store not Ecklers.
