Need help reinstalling stock airbox

I did the swiss cheese mod today (because a Vararam is a little further down on the list) Now, trying to reinstall, I cannot get the metal straps back on. I can either get the straps on OR I can get the top piece bolted back on... not both...

Call me old, stupid, with no patience,,, but if there is a trick to it, please share.

The air filter is probably not seated right. Be careful, you can snap off the plastic bits if you try to force the metal straps to close...trust me.

Electrical tape the bottom of the clips in place. You can also bend them for more tension. This job is a real biotch. Take your time and have a beer.

I have actually used some small electrical tie wraps. Put them on over the strap in an X pattern laced thru the housing and that will hold the straps secure.
