My problem is when I'M turn on the driving lights the headlight doors pop up,,the lights don't come on but the doors are in the up position. Anybody have any ideas what may be going on? This happened after the Chevy dealership attemped to fix the steering columun lock outrecall for, he 3rd time. The 1st was the recall ,the 2nd attempt cost me $1500.00 and the third time was under warranty from the 2nd attempt. So after the try on the way home from the dealership I tried to put the driving lights on the doors popped up and the dealer said that it wasn't from anything they did during the repair, but it just happens that the headlight switch is located just beneath the lock out switch located in the steering columum.sO that my problem is it the light switch or the module that controlls the headlght doors going up and down. Please any HELP would be appreciated. SILVETTSTER 98
there may be many possible causes, but this is one of the classic symptoms of worn headlight motor gears. that's what mine was doing when they went bad.
try unbolting the headlight arm from the motor and turning the adjuster to rotate the output shaft 180 degrees then bolt the headlight back up, this will move the gear so it hits the stops in a differnet part of the gear, likely a part that isn't worn out yet. a more permanent fix however would be replacing the plastic gears with brass ones. That fixed mine, its been fine ever since...about 4-5 years.
