It's been awhile since I last visited this forum
As usual I again need some help :-)
So this Saturday I replaced my front brake pads
with with ceramic super hawks. The shop also put
my front rotors on a machine to make them smooth.
It's been only few days but my breaks are squeaking
really bad when I apply them at a lower speed and especially when applying really gently at speeds around 20 miles to stopping. I called the shop but was told it might be the brake pads. I have never had an issue with breaks squeaking but now my car sounds like an 18th century horse. Also the right one sounds terrible but I can also hear the left one so its both sides. And the shop said the rotors are still good and do not need replacing. Before this I did t have any issues with squeaking.
What do u guys think might be the issue?
I thank you for all your help in advance
Isn't there some type of "gel" that goes on the backside of the shoe to reduce/eliminate brake squeal? A mechanic once told me that that obnoxious noise was due to vibration.

most good pads have a gummy backing or plate on them to prevent this
if his don't then it absolutely could be the problem
I had the gel in a small tube included with the break pads. I'm wondering if the shop forgot to lube the backside of the shoe... I wait few more days and if it doesn't change I'll have to take it back and ask them to lube it. Thank you
The Hawk HP Plus pads are meant for track use. As such, they can be noisy on the street. The Hawk HPS are quieter pads, so if you bought the Plus model, you know why they make noise.
That being said, I must also mention that the OEM Corvette pads are excellent pads for aggressive street and even some track use. I run them with PowerSlot rotors and am always amazed at their "bite" and overall stopping power.
