I appreciate the opinions on this. To each his own. I personally feel better with them on than I did with them off. I drove around for about 4 days without the screens installed. My butt dyno showed a nice improvement with this intake on and a vast improvement in throttle resonse. Since putting the screens in, my butt dyno registers no difference in either power or throttle response. With that said, if in fact they do restrict flow a bit, it's not enough for me to notice and not enough to get rid of my piece of mind I have having them in there. I'm sure I would have been perfectly fine just installing the Racemesh Grilles without any extra screens and maybe down the road I will do so. But for now it's fine.
I plan to install an LS6 intake I have here once I finish painting it. Also just bought a Shaner ported/polished TB. This summer, I'm planning on getting the new Pfadt Tri-Y headers. Then the next step is heads/cam. Either 243's or aftermarket heads.
At that point.... the screens might need to go as the motor will breath so much more that this could very well be a restriction. But for now, it's fine.

I installed my Vararam with the MAF in the new position with both the factory airbridge, and the VR. The hardest point was the ducts, and I just took a member's advice, and didn't bother bolting them to the car. They never rattled or created problems. I think the screen is a pretty good idea, especially stopping debris from getting in. It's not tightly sealed around the opening, and since there's no actual "Ramair" then the restriction argument is void. In regards the to filter sealing, you don't need to slop silicone in those vertical gaps. The filter is sealed by the pressure on it's gasket given by the housing's lower portion being clamped. Not to mention the suction from a running engine. It's a very worthwhile mod, IMO.

I take it you have a Z06. I'm curious if the MAF on the early to late models is shorter flange to flange. There was no way for me to use the Power Duct with the MAF in front of the TB. I had the MAF and TB metal to metal with the Power Duct attatched and the flare on the bottom of the Power Duct would not fit over the radiator cover. It had to move closer to the TB for it to nestle down to line up let alone closing the hood.

Oh yeah, I can see where that could be a problem. I just centered the air airbridge where it needed to be, then cut the tubing to fit with the MAF in the inlet side a very tight fit. I ended giving the whole thing to my buddy when I installed my SC kit.

Does Varaam make a unit that fits on a Tiger shark nose?

No. Not enough of those to make the required changes to the ducting.

I got the cold air effect by just opening up my fog light surrounds to feed my Halltech Stinger intake and covering it with screens. If you have a similar area to open up on the Tiger Shark, just install an open filter like the Blackwing or the newer Halltech ones.

While I agree that 2 extra screens aren't necessary, they hardly 'choke' your intake. I'd wager they restrict the airflow a negligible amount compared to that pesky filter downstream of them.
