Shift solenoid issue?

When I begin to accelerate in first gear at a mild pace I feel a bite of a bump when it shifts to 2nd. When it goes to third it does so more smoothly; and the same is true for the shift to 4th.
Now when I WOT beginning in first or second it will hang and bump the rev limiter for about 1-1.5 secs then hard shift into the next higher gear. The shift from 3rd to 4th at WOT does kick a little but it feels like its a clean shift.
Could this be the 1-2 solenoid? If not, what is the likeliest reason for this experience?
How many miles are on the car?
Have you done a filter/fluid change?
Mine (at ~94k) did the 'double bump' thing, too--however, not near as bad as what you are describing--mine did not hit the rev limiter. I had my mechanic do a filter/fluid change and replaced a & b shift solenoids and the pressure control solenoid. This took care of the double bump for me. I don't know if it was the fluid change or the shift solenoid but my guess is it was the solenoid.
Good luck.
