Default Crank Timing Sprocket Removal

How do you remove the sprocket on the crank? What is the procedure for installing the new sprocket on the crank?

Hi there,
j41558 is needed to remove the sprocket, and the j41816 is needed to protect the crankshaft. j41665 is needed to install this sprocket
As a sidebar, there is no way documented within GM service information to remove or install the reluctor, per document 640403.
It is only serviced and pressed on at the factory.
Exact alignment is absolutely critical to engine fuel and spark timing.
Just remember, pan and cover alignment is critical to oil tightness, and leak free service.
Besttoyou, c4c5 :chevy

If you're talking about the lower timing chain gear (which I'm not sure c4c5 is talking about). I put my old pulley bolt in the crank snout, put a 3 jaw puller on the crank gear and pulled it off pushing on the old pulley bolt.

I pushed on the new one by putting it on with the oil pump drive, then the OLD gear/pump drive behind it, and put in the bolt and turned it until completely seated. It didnt take much force to get it on there. You wont have to worry about pressing the old one on in front of it, I'm just using it as a spacer.

Whatever you do, dont bang it on with a hammer.
