I'm getting the parts together, and also working up both the ambition and courage, to install a hew harmonic damper on my C-5. Since I have to remove the rack as part of the job, I heard that DRM sell either a delrin or aluminum bushing, to replace the OE rubber bushing.
Has anyone here used this bushing on their car? If so, was it worth the time/money for the part?
I looked at getting the Doug Rippie bushing when I did my swap. At under 40 bucks it isn't terribly expensive. I read up on the installation instructions and decided against it. For the aluminum version it might require some you to clearance the rack to get the bushing to fit. I was already ordering some other stuff from Rock Auto so I got the Moog bushing for like 8 bucks. I cannot imagine either of these bushings doing a great deal more than stock. One side of the rack is pretty much a solid mount anyway. Unless you are in Zen with your car I doubt you will be able to tell either way.
If I was already buying something from Doug I probably would have tried the delrin version because I like cool parts like this but I would have spent as much in shipping as I did for the entire Moog part. Ask on the road racing forum, they might say different.

Thanks for the input! Was it an ordeal changing out the bushing?
The installation of the Moog version was painless. I believe it is some sort of poly material. You can push each half into place by hand then push the metal spacer through the middle.
I am not stating the Moog is somehow better than the Doug Rippie parts. They should all work fine even the stock rubber one. I think the main purpose of this is to dampen road harmonics. The rack really cannot deflect any appreciable amount.
Before I did it, my thinking was that this was going to hold the rack in place better. With one side being a solid mount, it is mostly there to control the vibrations in my opinion. It was a fine thing to replace. The rubber one worked fine for 13 years. Hopefully this one will be just as durable.

yea I was wondering about that....why would you have to pin the crank pulley when installing a component in the steering shaft? And to clarify, yes I ordered the DRM aluminum piece.
