Hi, new guy here. I've been on the C1 forum for years and have been getting the urge to add a more modern Vet. Thinking about a standard shift 05 through 08 conv. (I really prefer the styling of the C5's). I figure by now all the growing pains have been solved, My question is: are there any specific problems with the C5's that I should be on the lookout for ? This will be a "cruise" car, no track or competition, 2 or 3 thousand miles a year. Appreciate any feedback to help me from making an expensive mistake. Thanks, Bob

They stopped makingC5's in 04, so if you like the C5 styling you wont find any C5's in 05 to 08. As far as problems, all cars have problems, you wont find any car that is trouble free. A C5 is a good choice.. a 2001 through 04 would be the best choice.
Is the style you are liking the "C6" with fixed headlights? The C5 has flip up lights. As Evil Twin stated, 97-04 is the C5. 05-12 is the C6. If the C5 is what you are after and you want the model with most the bugs worked out, 01-04 has several updated systems that are big failures on the 97-00 years.
Personally, I would look for 02-04 in the C5. 02 got the new pistons and rings early in the model year. You should be able to find a nice low mileage car since many in New England store them over the winter.
