I inquired a few days ago about Cryo Treated Rotors and got a great deal but got caught up in alot of day to day BS that sidetracked me.
So, for any of you who went that route, is cryo treating worth the extra bucks or, should I just stick with the standard rotors? From what I read, cryo treating seems to extend the life of the rotors, especially from heat.
I've had rotors cryo treated before, but that was on a tracked prepped early 90's Taurus SHO with big brakes that still weren't big enough to haul the thing to a stop over a 20 minute open track session. I did it to prevent warping and to extent rotor life on that car since brake and rotor options were so limited.
That being said, I open track my 99 FRC with Carbotech track pads and NAPA rotors (PN's 86700 & 86701) and have yet to have a problem with the rotors even though they have turned a tinge of blue around the inside edge of the rotor/pad sweep area from heat. They really take the abuse, even from a track pad. I'd save your money.
KMetros - I too have Carbotechs (XP 10 / XP 8) and wanted to bed them with new rotors, so I wasn't sure if Cryo was teh way to go for teh extra bucks. Thanks!!
I have powerslot cryo treated rotors. The zinc coating is nice, and I think the slots help a bit with fade. The cryo part was moreso a peice of mind type thing.

No, bedding them won't hurt the rotors. It makes for a lot of smoke and stinkiness, but it won't hurt them.
