I am finally going to get started on my H/C build. First things first. I need to send out my stock set of LS2 style 243 heads for a P&P/build.
I was looking into Advanced Induction and like what I see and have heard. My tuner said to send them to WCC (west coast corvettes). And that he has also used Texas speed. Im open to ideas
Looking for the best place to send them too and where the best quality work can be had, also prices if anyone has had the experience, and turn around time, etc. Im wanting a quality 5 axis port on a flow bench or a pre set port that has been flow benched, not a hand porting.
I have Comp 918 springs, hardened retainers and locks, and int/exh GM one piece seals all ready to go that I will send in with the heads. I expect the valves to be fine and reusable as the heads are in great condition with only 32k miles. I will have them milled to, Im thinking 62cc.
Also the cam I am going with is from texas speed. 224/228 .581/.588 114lsa. I know that this information is important for the porter, but I expect it will be asked on here, so there it is.
My figures show with a .050 head gasket, 62cc chambers and assuming a deck clearance of -.006 (protruding) to give a static compression ratio of 11.03:1. Im trying to keep it around 11:1 give or take a few points for the 91 octane here in Cali.
Im new and seeing you did your homework maybe I can pick your brain? I am in the middle of a HCI install on my C5 but did things backwards I think. Im maximizing my heads then having a custom cam made for them. I noticed youre building your heads around your cam, are you cam limited in some sort of racing? I hope its appropriate for me to ask. Thanks and good luck.
This cam is the best known emissions legal cam here in Cali. So I want this cam and to have the heads ported to work with this it. Matching the cam to the heads is a better way to do it, Im the one doing it backwards, but those who have gone before me have discovered the best cam I can go with and many tuners I have talked to have backed that up, so I am doing it this way. I think either way will achieve a proper setup.
I've got heads from AI as well. The engine isn't finished yet so I can't attest to how they perform, but I expect good things. From everything I've read and on the advise of my engine builder Phil does great work.
