Default Trunk Ajar Not On DIC

Three years ago my 03 vert was rear ended. $ 5K in damages. The local Chevy dealer body shop, Hendricks, was a really bad experience.
My problem is that the trunk ajar does not show on the DIC when the trunk is open. The trunk release works fine. What will happen is if I am not careful and pop the convertible lid when the trunk is open the trunk lid gets a ding where the two pieces touch.
I called the dealership body shop, asking for some info, and the response was that I should have brought the problem to their attention sooner. Three years equals 1200 miles but they were more concerned in the time than the mileage.

Any suggestions on where to start?

Thanks

My immediate thought is that the switch is not working and the contacts are not changing position when the trunk is opened. You should be able to remove it (or check it in place) with an ohm meter. If not sure how to do this, send me a PM.

Without the FSM in front of me, not sure if the switch activates the DIC by closing or opening the contacts. If it actuates by opening and the switch connector is not connected that could be the cause.

I'll check for the connector not plugged in first. I'll also check with ohm meter.
Thanks for the info!

Coulde be as simple as the switch is not connected. Remove the carpet and take a look.

Removed the trunk latch and the lever on the DIC switch is not engaged to the spring in the switch. When I move the switch lever up I get a resistance reading and when it is plugged into the car the trunk ajar shows on the DIC. I have a bad habit of breaking small switches when I try to open them up. Will the cap on the switch pop off or will that break it? The spring titter is on top of the lever and does not engage on the lever. How does the spring engage the lever? Does it go from the bottom or does it insert into the lever?

Thanks for the help.

Not having seen the actual correct installation in a C5 I am having difficulty in understanding but I think I know what you are saying. The swtich should be pretty cheap so if you screw it up, no big deal in my opinion. You can always post a picture for us.

The spring goes under the lever. Super glued it back together. We'll see how long that lasts.

Glad it worked. If you need that part number my best friend owns a dealership and I can get it for you. I looked it up in my parts book (pdf) but I always like to confirm it with his guys in parts.

Went to my friends dealership, the P/N is 16608046 for the switch. The same for all the
C5 years. The cost was $25 with my wholesale cost at $18.
