That's GM's way of telling you any future problems are yours to solve. If it is working correctly then now is a good time to install a CLB. There are bunches of posts on this and some experts to help you WHEN "the issue" surfaces. in a previous C5, it nailed me in the parking lot at work, and the wheel shake method got me home. Usually it is a low battery that starts the failure sequence, but I think that as our cars age, there may be an issue with wear of the motor. So, the CLB process puts the col lock permanently in the retracted position and then tells the right lie to the BCM so the car will work OK. I've put a CLB on 2 C5's I have owned and no trouble thereafter, even with a low battery, so it is one of the better fixes out there. There are a bunch of GM fixes, and one of my C5's had the extra relay in the passenger footwell next to the BCM and one did not. Both showed the same exact recall fix. Also the one that did not have the relay did not lock the column, even though the motor cycled, indicating the mod included a new col lock plate. Both cars were 6sp manuals, so it goes to show that the dealerships sometimes aren't on top of their game.

I installed a CLB back in 99 and was told about an "open item" column lock issue by a service writer..I told them I already fixed it and they closed the ticket....

my advice to you is install a CLB and move on...

The LMC5 bypass is the latest column lock bypass and the company is eager to make it work properly.
If I were to install a bypass, it would be the LMC5. Get one before you have to WALK to get it!

Murphy just noticed that you need a lesson!

from what I have been reading its a lot more work than the old CLB and people have a chance of needing a different one than the one they ordered and many end up calling for help to install it. why make things more complicated than they need to be?

YMMV
