Well I am pretty sure its not the alternator now. I brought it in to the dealer and for some reason the high chirp like went away....strange. Anyway we thought about the rain causing it...but for such a high pitch squeek? is that possible?

For what it's worth, I had a problem similar to yours with my 2000 A4 coupe. The dealer had it three different times before they finally fixed it under TSB 99-06-04-029A, Subject: Intermittent Accessory Drive Rumble (Install New Generator) 1997 - 2000 Chevrolet Corvette. It made all kinds of chirping and jingling noise until they installed the new alternator with the clutch (Decoupler Pulley) assembly. This new decoupler alternator and redesigned reduced damping belt tensioner assembly (which they also installed at the same time) were implemented as a running change at the factory at the beginning of the 2001 model year for all 4L60-E automatic transmission equipped cars. I suspect that installation of these new parts will solve your problem. It solved mine over a year ago and it has not recurred. However, this is a fix for automatic transmission equipped cars only and I don't recall reading what transmission you have. Hope this helps, good luck.
