I was curious about some of the track times I have been seeing posted. My dad's 02 Zo6 ran a 12.23 last weekend. I am going to put a heads/cam package on my 01 coupe...but after seeing numerous people dynoing more hp than a stock Z06 and running slower times, I have been reconsidering.
I have heads & cam and my best thusfar is 11.92 @ 118 w/ 1.80 60'. That is with a daily-driven car with over 42000 miles on it and on street tires. I think you can kick some major Z06 butt with heads/cam. And the sound is awesome.
I think even though track times might not show it (because there is a lot of skill that goes into the "perfect" launch, etc...) that out on the road if you pull up next to a Z06, in the higher RPM you should pull on them nicely. At lower RPMs, your car will be no different than a Z06.
In my case I had a 99 hardtop and the cost of going to an 02 Z06 was about double what it cost me to do heads & cam, exhaust, intake, headers, ls6 intake, wheels and suspension. Sure, my car isn't a Z06, but it is arctic white :D.
