Default Cranking time

I've noticed that my 2002 coupe takes a little longer cranking before it starts up. This morning after it started I got a charging system fault on my DTC but went away after the car started. I pulled it out of the garage and shut it off. I waited a couple of minutes and started it again with no problem. Fired up immediately and there after. It seems that it occurs when the car sits overnight. I plan to change the fuel filter/regulator next weekend and was wondering if there's a check valve or something that allows my fuel pressure to bleed off. Thanks in advance.

If I'm understanding what you are saying, it sounds like engine cranking speed is fine, but the crank-time is getting extending, correct?

Attach a fuel pressure gauge to the rail and check FP. It sure can't hurt. Yes, there is a check valve made into the rear fuel feed pipe and although I would say it would be first on the list of possible culprits, there are of course other things that can cause pressure drop-off.

Where is the check valve located? If I'm going to change my fuel filter, I may as well change it too. Don't you agree? If the gas has to be drained I might as well do all I can. As for the cranking, it cranks fine, just takes longer. Thanks for your help.

It is incorporated into, and a part of, the rear fuel feed pipe. IOW it is not serviceable as a separate item.
This is one of the three fuel lines coming off the driver's side fuel tank. It travels upwards and then "Y's" off, with one "leg" feeding the right side tank, and the other going forward to the fuel filter/regulator.

GM part # 10448899 called "Fuel Feed Rear Hose" by GM. Item #33 in the pic. $109.80 @ gmpartseast. The three connectors are of the squeeze-to-release type. It's a PITA to change without kinking the nylon, so use caution. I was able to change mine without dropping the left fuel tank, but like I said, you really have to take your time so as not to kink the line.
