'Pinging' when shutting car down after header install
Im sure this is normal, but just wanted to make sure. I just put on some xspower headers and cats on my 02 z06 about a week ago. Tonight I was just idling the car in the garage after cleaning some stuff in the engine bay. Once I was done (car was up to temp), I shut the car off and heard light pinging from the exhaust (car wasnt jacked up, but seemed to be around where the balljoints on the header are). I should note that its cooler tonight (50s) then It has been when Ive been out driving the car with the new headers.
Im assuming this is normal and inherent to the stainless steel as opposed to the cast iron that was there (maybe even the cast irons did it, I just didnt hear it because of the thickness of them). Or maybe its the different type of cats that are installed (high flow vs oem)? I already retorqued all the bolts after a heat cycle, maybe ill give them another going over. Ive never quite heard this level of pinging/tinking from exhaust before, but then again Ive never done headers on a v8 before!
