Will a c5a4 diff accept the c6z06 internals? The a4 diffs can be had cheap. I already have the z06 diff (the case is broken at the oil cooler hose fitting). I just bought the dte brace for extra strength. My car is a 2000 m6 that should put down 420+ rwhp. It will see some 1/4 mile racing with drag radials. Thanks for your help!
Output shafts, posi clutches, preload washers (Belleville springs) and pinion bearing carrier or support would fit. Search for Bill's threads with differential and you'll easily find his posts with lots of info on the parts you can upgrade.
I'm thinking now, it may be more cost effective to just have the case fixed on the c6z06 diff and put the whole assembly in it. Thanks for your replies.
If you have a 3 series case... (3:15 and not the 2:73) you can put any available gear ratio in it. The 2:73 requires a spacer and not too many shops build them.
But, as mentioned above, the output shafts, clutch packs, spider gears, and bevel washers from the C6 diff will fit in the C5 case.
I emailed Rick Kim at RKT Performance and he got right back to me, on Sunday no less. He answered all my questions and explained to me what would be the best set up for my power level and intended use. It was NOT the most expensive option. It was actually very reasonable. He's a stand up, honest guy. I'm looking forward to doing business with him.
Thanks Rick!
