In the process of replacing the rear bearings i need to get the ball joint disconnected. Can't get the nut off and during the process the allen in the center has stripped. to add to the nightmare the threads are corroded. been soaking it with pb. Can't even crank the nut back tight.
Any ideas, I'm ready to cut the ball joint off.

Have you tried jamming the next sized Allen key into it to see if it will hold while you crank on the nut ?
Well, how will you tighten the new nut back on the old ball joint stud if the allen center is stripped? Seems like you are asking to deal with the same issue all over again the next time.
Try this. Put your jack under the lower A-arm right under the ball joint and raise it until it's starting to lift the arm. Put a ratchet strap over the spindle down to the jack and snug it up. A chain or anything else similar will also work. Tighten the strap and lift the jack until you're wedging the ball joint back into the arm enough the taper holds the ball joint from spinning. Take your nut off.
You could also possibly just put a ratchet strap around the spindle and ball joint and ratchet it down enough to do the same thing. A small chain works well because it won't give and lifting the jack will easily put enough pressure into the ball joint that it holds.

Before you take the nut off,,, buff off the stud with a wire brush and remove all the rust,dirt/corrosion/scale and them heat up the NUT with a torch. Quench it with penetrating oil and it should come off a lot easier.
