I went out to check my hoses when I read this topic. I have the Z51 suspension too. Thankfully no rubbing, there's enough space for me to get my finger between the two lines. Thanks for the heads up on the topic.
Well, so far it seems that C5's without the Z51 are affected. Maybe this is a model wide problem. Is there anyone in the know who could , or any way for me to point this out to GM. Maybe this could turn into a TSB or even a recall.
I had a problem 1 year ago when I discovered the A/C wasn't blowing cold air. Funny thing is I barely use the A/C. Now I don't remember what exactly caused the probem but i do remenber that it involved repairng a hose
Automatic transmission cars should have cooler lines going to the radiator someone in this general area. I cant say for sure because I've never been intimate with an A4 C5 :D
Mine, an 01' Z51 M6, is plumbed differently. All hoses go around the pwr steering cooler and are shielded. In fact, all hoses and wiring in that area are shielded. Thanks for the heads up though.
97 Z51 with one AC line routed around the radiator hose. The A/C line has a plastic shield around it. While I was checking the line I noticed at the compresser end a piece of black material wedged between the metal tubing and the compressor. It turned out to be a piece of something resembling soft asphalt. I know it wasn't tire debris becasue I have plenty of that elsewhere in the car. It was wedged in fairly tightly and took some tugging to get it out. Not sure how it got there but it took some force to get it wedged in like that.
