There is a topic about someone blowing out an AC line due to rubbing. I went out this morning and checked my lines and they were rubbing as well! I seperated them and the lower of the 2 hoses has a wear mark in it. I think I caught mine in time (it still works) but this might be a wide spread problem. FYI I am referring to the 2 AC hoses on the lower front passenger side of the engine bay. Check yours before it's too late!

Okay, I've got the early symtoms...Now, what's the best fix???
Thanks for the heads up on this one too!!
You should also check out the cute little notch that the radiator shroud cuts into the hose that connects the coolant reservoir with the radiator (top). I slipped a small piece of larger hose over the real hose so that it would take the abuse and not the real hose.

I caught that one and did the same thing! Bad design...
Thanks for posting! I'll go look. The first weekend after I bought my '99, we went on the Covered Bridge Cruise. It was raining and had to keep windows up most of the way with a/c on. Prior to our trip we cleaned out around the wipers as previous owner had been parking underneath an oak tree for months. To make a long story short, we plugged the a/c drain and ALL the water POURED in on the passenger side. Luckily we had some towels brought along to dry the car. You don't want plugged a/c lines so be careful when cleaning out around your wipers! :smash: :smash:
Pop your hood and stand on the passenger side of the hood. Look towards the front down low. You should see 2 AC lines crossing each other. I thought I'd be nice and take pics, so I did that and now I can't find the USB cable to hook my camera up! If I dig it up I will post them.
So the AC hose is rubbing against the plastic hose? Did that really cause wear? What if I just ziptied the AC hose to the plastic hose so it's always in contact, then there'd be no rubbing.
No, it's actually the metal end of the upper hose against the rubber of the bottom one. I was thinking of taking some hose clamps and putting them around that area.
I just took a look at mine and the A/C lines are not running the same as in the picture provided above. I only have 1 A/C line in that area with no rubbing, but I think that's attributed to my configuration.
I have a 2000 coupe with Z-51 suspension. If memory serves me right, the power steering cooler and suspension changes with this package are different and may require some different plumbing for the A/C.
