A4 slipping, no power...Help!!!
Sorry for my crappy english, but i hope i can explain my problem anyway.... :(
Today, while driving at about 30-35 mp/h i made a kick-down, and it went into 1:st gear as normal. But suddenly at 5000 rpm it started to slip.
It sounded like a normal acceleration but the car didn´t accelerate.
The following gear change into second was wery sluggish with lots of slippage and the engine felt powerless!
I stopped emmidiatly and listened for any noices from the tranny when changing between R-N-D, but it sounded normal as usual.
The trans. fluid temperature was also ok.
By the next acceleration it changed the gears at 5000-5500 rpm and it lost almost all power between the gears.
I stopped again and shut off the engine, pulled the key for 5 sec, started the engine and made an acceleration to 100 mp/h again......
Suddenly it was like normal again, it firmly changed gears at normal rpm:s with almost no slippage.
I had no relevant codes (i think):
B0-RFA - Remote Function Actuation
U1016 H Loss of Communication with PCM
U1064 H Loss of Communication with BCM
U1096 H Loss of Communication with IPC
Can any of these codes be caused by my problem?!
I have very few mods so i dont think they can cause this problem.
My car has just 16000 miles so it can´t be worn out!? Or can it?
I still have 2 years warranty left but the dealer can´t look at my case until august!
Anyone had these kind of problems?
Please, do anyone have any ideas?
I will soon go for a long holiday trip with the car, and i would hate to be worried during the whole trip!
Thanks for your time!
I would REALLY appreciate any ideas!
Is your fluid level normal???
Do you have any leakage underneath the transmission???
CP is correct as the bulletin for transmission could be applied to your vehicle.

c4c5, Is this what you mean? I see it's listed for the '98s also. Do you have any more info on this?

Thanks for your answer!
No, i don´t have any leakage at all from my car.
Is it possible that the car can suddenly "forget" it´s shiftpoints, and have to learn them again?

It is possible that the sunshell is broken, however, once the shell breaks, it is usually done, and the transmission never regains the gear ranges.
I was speaking of 01-07-30-038. This speaks of contaminants within the transmission, causing erratic operation of the control valve body.
A code sometimes sets, however, not always.
Usually, if there are no mechanical failures inside the transmission, this would be the first course of action.
The pan would be dropped, and the filter removed and inspected.
Then, using a factory scan tool, full pressurization of the valve body to purge all contaminants of the valve body.
Were there any codes in the PCM????

Hi!
The only codes where:
B0-RFA - Remote Function Actuation
U1016 H Loss of Communication with PCM
U1064 H Loss of Communication with BCM
U1096 H Loss of Communication with IPC
I don´t really know what PCM, BCM and IPC means....
Today it didnt slip but i´ve noticed that it sometimes gets really confused if i shift the gears manually for a while, and then put it into D.
I did that today, 10 minutes of driving in the city with just manual shifting, and then into D, and kickdown at 36-39 mp/h ca 2000 rpm:s..........
It didn´t shift, it just waited 2 sec, then it raised 200 rpm:s and started to accelerate in ......3rd...i think.
I stepped on the pedal like i was playing the organ, but nothing happened. It didn´t gear down.
But this just happens after shifting manually......
Something is pretty wierd........ :nonod:
