No start, buzzing from front end
Go to leave and won't turn over. All dash lights came on and such and was getting a buzzing sound almost like a fuel pump sound. Did that a few times, then she fired off,run bad for a sec and stalled.
Then all the sudden she fired off and all seemed good. Stopped at a small local car show for a bit, started right up, blipped home, shut down and I restarted with no problems.
So I have no idea what's up other then I think maybe starter solenoid is crapping out??
Anyone have any other idea on the problem or experience these symptoms?
Thanks
Joe

Go to pep boys to check it's free or which ever auto store is closest to you.

Could also be a loose/dirty/burnt connection ANYWHERE in the starter Circuit.
NOTE! All the wires ANYWHERE in the STARTER circuit are high current wires. They MUST be clean/corrosion free and have a tight secure connection.
Start at the neg and POS battery terminals. Remove them and clean the terminals and cable connections.
The battery terminal bolts need to be TORQUED to 11 ft/lbs (97-03 C5's) The terminal connections on the STARTER must be clean and tight. You cant assume that they are. You need to physically check the connections.
The negative connection from the battery to the block is just above the starter on the block.
If you check ALL the connections, and it fails to crank, there is a very good chance that you have the common failing SOLENOID.
If you whack the solenoid while someone tries to crank the engine, and the mechanical agitation allows the starter to crank the engine,, CHANGE THE SOLENOID!
Theres a PURPLE wire on the starter solenoid. When you do all the steps to crank the engine, that wire will have 12 VDC on it. It you read 12 VDC and the starter isn't cranking the engine, the Solenoid or starter is bad.
Some other things to make sure of:
Is the SECURITY LIGHT on when you you have the key in the ON position. The security light MUST be OFF
Read and post your DTCs. Use the internal code reader, not a aftermarket scanner!!
