Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Remove the door support and check the alignment of the door.
can you adjust the old hinge by loosing the bolts, lifting the door up and tightening the bolts, or is there no adjustment? If I do replace the hinge, can I just replace the top one since it seems it would be the one with the most wear?
I’ve been to the GM Plant in Bowling Green KY numerous times. One of my favorite parts of the line is where they put on the doors. The front clip isn’t on yet so, this big arm picks up the door and one person swings it over to the car. The fixture has spacers that fit into the opening to properly center it. Then the bolts on both hinges are tightened. If you remove the fender, alignment and bolt tightening is easy!
ok, stupid question, how do you remove fender, I see the screws under the hood, and under the fender at the door, but what screws at the front of fender and wheel well?
