Been noticing a "wobble" at low speeds (10-20mph) in the rear of my '04 (A4 vert) when on a real smooth road and, that time I had it dyno'd I could see a hop in the rear section as it was running up. Also, there's a slight fluctuating vibration at 60-70mph that goes in and out slowly but, at 55mph it's seems smooth as silk.
I was suspecting the OE wheels I installed awhile back so, I took them out to an alloy wheel repair shop today to have them checked and all were within tolerance. The guy said that they shouldn't be the problem as they were OK as far as roundness.
I've had the wheels and tires road force balanced twice and still have the vibration. I'm about to the point of taking it to a dealer (while I still have some of the extended warranty left) and see if anything is messed up in the rear drive.
Anyone here have any experience with this problem or suggestions on what to try next?
A failing cv joint could cause those symptoms. I would have a close look at the tires first. A shifted belt would be my first suspect. When the cv joints cause problems, it's usually while transferring power, not so much at a steady cruise or coasting.

I removed all the wheels and mounted them individually on a front hub so I could spin them and watch for any run out and, there was very little movement. Probably just from sitting a few days and not moving.
Would a shifted belt cause a easy visible deformity in the tire?
