Did you verify full battery voltage at compressor clutch? On the venerable GM A6 compressor you could replace the clutch without removing the compressor. Don't know about the C5 compressor.

I just learned something here, my mom's Grand Am the A/C compressor was squeeling, I first smelled a burning smell.
Then it quit working altogether(not pumping according to gauges), I was going to replace the compressor this coming spring, I never thought about testing to see if it is getting full voltage.
That would suck to put on a new compressor and find out it was a voltage issue!
