I have a 2001 convertible with auto dimming mirrors, and the driver side mirror has turned bronzish color so it always looks dimmed.
From what I can see, there appears to be no damage, and the rear view seems to be functioning. How do I determine if this is an issue of something broken that needs to be replaced, or is it likely an electrical issue? Where would you experienced vette owners start?
Thanks in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.
Same issue with my mirror. I believe it has to do with the fluid associated with the autodimming feature. I just bought a regular mirror that sticks on top of your existing mirror. Otherwise your only option is to replace it with another light sensitive one, which is fairly pricey.
It is a common problem and you do not have to replace it with an identical, almost no one does that. You can buy a stick on or get a nice replacement that is easy to install but does not have the auto dimming feature (It will have the heater element). A nice replacement (new, non diming) is about $85. PM me with your phone number and I can tell you where to get one and how to replace it. Just did that for someone else 2 days ago.
