I have an 01 stock Vette Coupe. I just replaced the tires with non run flat tires. They are a lot quieter and half the price. Have an emergency kit in the car now and AAA on speed dial! LOL
My problem is that the new tires recommend 42 PSI. They drive GREAT at that pressure (like when I bought it) but the TPMS keeps throwing the Tire Pressure to high message at 42PSI. I lowered the pressure to 38 to keep it from going off but now it feels spongy and does not drive as well.
Is there a way to increase the pressure threshold or am I just stuck hearing the bell go off and watching the monitor flash at me? Can I just turn it off and still be able to use Competitive Mode? Is there a way to turn it off? WOuld like to keep it working but the rest of the system is useless when it keeps flashing the warning and the bell dinging.
If it takes 42 PSI to make the tires feel proper, you either have the wrong or poor quality tires or something is wrong with your car. Did you have it aligned and aligned properly???
30 PSI COLD all the way around +- 1 pound or two for proper wear pattern.
I too have WIDE 19" rear tires and I usually run 28 in the rears COLD for best center tire wear.
No tire recommends a pressure for a certain vehicle. The tire lists the maximum inflation pressure.
42 is too high for the tires. If you want the car to feel "stiffer" then use the hard sidewall runflats or larger rims and lower profile tires. Then, get higher rate springs and stiffer shocks.
I have been airing my C8 tires about every month or less and was wondering if something was wrong. My other 4 or 5 cars I check about every 6 months and they are fine. This is the only car with what I call rubber band tires.
