3 day battery drain
Has anyone experienced this phenomena with a C5? Mine is a 2000. The Interstate battery is less than two years old. With a 2 amp 24 hr trickle charge it goes dead in 3 days. That is 3 days parked. It charges 14+ amps when running. If I park it for 3 days it goes to sleep on me. Is there something chronic with the C5s to look for?
This is making me bald from pulling my hair out. I used the old test light method across the disconnected neg cable, pulled all the fuses and placed back one at a time but the test light never went out. I'm thinking with all the new electronic stuff on this car and computer that the old method just might not work with it. Please help if you can! Thanks a bunch.
Hello Bumble, well...sorry to hear of your troubles. I am having the same problem and thanks Bill Curlee and 8VETTE I hope to solve the issue this morning (or at least determine what is causing it) Look at the attached procedure from Bill, it appears pretty straight forward. Good luck my friend. -Glenn

I just don't know how I would get along without this fantastic forum family to get advise from. People that have gone the hard way and learned, then to share it with us is just "OUTSTANDING" and so deeply appreciated. My old dial multi-meter will not do the trick so I bought a new up to date digital multi-meter today. Now I'm getting into the cyber age, good for and old goat. Thanks guys!
So I am having a similar issue with the battery going dead. It is not three days, but it will go dead in a week or so. I have been leaving it on a trickle charger and this seems to be working. My question is this- I have removed the power seat as I have Corbeau seats. I have removed the stock radio system as I have a new system installed. I have removed the stock headlights as I have Radioflyer fixed lights installed. Could any of the problems with things like the Bose amp relay or the headlight control module still be causing the issue and if so, can the fuses and relays be removed for those systems?
I had the same issue. If you check for parasitic drain and its normal, you need a better battery. Mine had a group 75 battery and it's not enough for the Vette's system. I got an Autocraft Silver group 78 battery with 770 cold cranking amps and 120 min reserve capacity from Advance Auto Parts. Now it can set for weeks and still start.
