Default Cheep Mufflers???

Looking to swap out my mufflers for something under $400 bucks.
Any ideas? I have no smog where im at so no issues there. I like strait pipes but some sort of noise muffling.

Does anyone know of any cheep solutions. I don't care if i have to cut the mid pip and install something there. I just need something on the cheap. NEEDS TO BE UNDER $400. thanks

When you start installing untested mufflers, you risk the chance that you will get some serious in CABIN DRONE. Loud is OK BUT,,,,,,,, DRONE SUCKS.

So, Unless you install some bullet style mufflers in the tunnel area, its going to be tough to find mufflers that fit where ours go.

Try this. It will give you the "AS LOUD AS IT WILL GET" and also the "WORST DRONE THAT IT CAN HAVE!" The only way to get louder would be to remove the CATs Then it gets REALLY LOUD!

Either unbolt the mufflers from the midpipe and wire then up and out of the way OR find some longer midpipe bolts and space out the flanges where the muffler pipe and mid pipe connect. I used some large hex nuts so there was about a 3/4" space between the two flanges. Thats plenty enough space for the LOUD to get out

Dont keep it that way long if you have an early C5 and your fuel tanks dont have the metal shielding. The exhaust gasses will exit near the tanks.

You will see how loud and gutteral it sounds and what drone really is. i kept mine like for approx 60 days and that was enough

If you don't have a Z06, you could go looking for a used set of Z06 mufflers.

I've been on the lookout but with a $400 budget it puts me just shy (not a money issue a budget/goal issue).

Isnt there a chambered flow through muffler like they had on the Lakewood side pipes from the C2/C3's. I would really like to delete the mufflers at the back all together and just have the exhaust dump before the axle.

Im not concerned about drone or fuming out the cabin. It is a purpose car just ment to grab attention. BUT strait pipes as Bill mentioned is to much attention for me.

You could put electric cutouts in. Then it would only be loud when you really wanted it to be.

I do have cats still. Cops have never messed with me. And yes, that is the set. But you can get them at Summit-racing, ebay, or Maryland speed for 350
