I have a '01 C5 with a Auto. I was wondering if it would be cheaper to sell my current C5 and buy one with a 6 speed or to convert my Automatic car to a 6 speed car? Pro's? Con's? TIA

Cheaper to sell yours and buy a 6 speed, unless you've already dumped money into your car that you won't recover from selling....

I'm considering swapping from a 6 speed to an auto. If you were closer I would swap with you. MIKE

Same year car, Same deal. Wouldn't do it again.
Funny. I'm in your area. The first thing is there are not many shops with experience to do the job for you.
Secondly. Even with a new Z06 3.42 rear end in it already and getting a good deal on a low miles trans, tube and wiring you'll still need another $1,000 in parts to do it right. Oh and not everything will work the same without a different PCM.
I'm into this swap $7,000 NOT including the rear end which will run you another $1,500. And getting money for your auto parts to help offset the cost? Not going to happen.

Then when you have a problem after the swap is complete nobody will touch it so it sits in the garage with a cover on it and a bent/loose bolts/who knows driveshaft making it undriveable while funds to drag it to Tom Wongs are accumulated.

I already had a new LS2 engine swap full exhaust was my dads car had a blown auto ect... And it still wasn't worth it. If you have a nearly stock car? Forget about it. Just sell it.

WOW, thanks for the honest feedback. I keep forgetting this this is the 21st century not the 1970's. Back in the day a Engine and trans swap wasn't that big of a deal. What a headache today I guess. Yeah Mike, if you were closer we'd have to pursue the exchange a little closer. Hey Evilash, that's a nice P-51 in your moniker.
