I brought my 1997 in to have the A/C recharged and was told the compressor was leaking. I bought a new compressor & receiver drier. They were installed but the A/C isn't blowing cold, just cool. Sometimes it is just below cold and sometimes not at all. My guess is the controls since the outside temp is reading correct...any idea? Texas in the summer is not fun driving a Vette with no A/C, desperate for help before I buy stuff that is not needed. When I first had it recharged it blew cold for about 2 days until the freon leaked out.

Well it probably leaked out again on maybe you have an actuator problem. Pull and post the codes, a bad actuator will set a code. This link describes how to pull codes using the dic in the car. http://www.stengel.net/diccodes.htm
Mine had insufficient cooling till I replaced the Orfice Tube
Pressures were good. Evacuated and recharged. Cleaned condenser fins.
Still poor cooling. Was the $5 orfice tube in the high side line on the passenger fender. Replaced, evacuated and recharged. Cools fine now.
Old one might have been clogged if really had a bad compressor.
Ran the codes and all of them were follow with an "H".
You're going to have to get the pressures checked and see if the leak was fixed. If it continues to leak the ac light will start to flash but this could take a while if it a slow leak. Also post any hvac codes even though they are history I think those codes switch to history as soon as cut the engine off. It could turn out to be the orifice tube but need to check other things first.
