Transmission Swap Question.....Does this make any Sense????
In 2006 I bought a 01 Z06 with CAI & headers, on a dynojet, it puts down something like 370/375 RW. I had 4.10's installed. This has the MN-12 Tranny in it with 2.97, 2.07, 1.43, 1.0, .084, .56 Ratios.
In 2011, I lucked into a 97 Lingenfelter Coupe with a 427 making 450/480 RW on a Dynojet. I was concerned about the differential & installed a built 3 rib with 3.73 gears & aftermarket Posi Unit. This has the MN-6 tranny in it with 2.66, 1.78, 1.3, 1.0, .74, .50 Ratios.
At the time I installed the built diff on the 97, I also installed sticky tires & wasn't smart enough to put a hardcore clutch in......now I have to, it will spin on hard acceleration.
Now my question.....would it make sense to exchange the 2 trannys when I do the clutch on the 97??? I feel being naive I overgeared the Z06, I should have went 3.9x gears with the MN12 box. If you multiply 1st x gear ratio I now have
01 Z06 2.97 x 4.10 = 12.177
97 LPE 2.66 x 3.73 = 9.9218
If I swap the trannys, this is what I get
01 Z06 2.66 x 4.10 = 10.906
97 LPE 2.97 x 3.73 = 11.0781
Does this sound like it merits the extra work???? Input is really appreciated. Thanks & sorry for being so long winded!
