Bought a Momo Combat (aluminum) **** this week, so I had to pull the stock **** last night. I'd read all the posts on how tough it is to get the pin out of the stocker. DAMN...I almost gave up on the thing when my Sears gripper pliers flew out of the car (top was off). Thankfully they cleared the door and ended up on the garage floor.
I wasn't going to let this 2 oz. piece of metal get the better of me, so I headed down to the locaol O'Reily's parts store and bought a new pair of vice grips and a can of "PB" Fabulous Blaster Powerful Penetrating Catalyst, which is something like Liquid Wrench. The stuff really did the trick! I gave the pin a good soaking, and five minutes later the pin slowly came up with just a little bit of elbow grease.
For those of you trying to pull the ****, vice grips are essential. I don't care what kind of a grip you think you have, I can't believe this job can be done with non-locking pliers.
Love the new ****...now I can think about cutting down that shifter!
I know how you feel. Congrats on getting it off. There was a hilarious post a while back from someone who ended up taking a hacksaw to the stock **** and destroying it to get it off.
