Default Please help!!!!!

Ok, I replaced my driver seat tonight and my glovebox assembly. I hooked everything up and my driver seat still did not work. I previously had a regular c5 seat in so I knew it didnt work. I now have a stock c5z seat in. I started checking fuses seeing if that was why the seat would not work. All the fuses were fine. Went to pull the car into the garage for the night and give up and the car will start, kinda idle really low for a second then dies. And its in reduced engine power, the fuel gauge is on "e" but it has over a half a tank of gas. The abs light and trac control light have been on for awhile but havent had any problem like this until tonight. I checked the dic codes thinking it would tel me something, no comm with anything, tcs, pcm, etc. Please any input would help!

You most likely had the car's doors open for a period of time, possibly having the interior lights on too. Maybe you simply ran the battery down...

The battery was at 12.4-12.5 last night. Would that be low enough?

I put the charger on it and turned the key on. Same thing. I'm gonna give it a few and try again. I checked all my bcm and ipc fuses. They are good

12.4 to 12.5 should be good. Try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes, and then reconnect. Sometimes the computers need to be rebooted to fix an anomaly.

As far as the seat goes, do you know it was good electrically before you installed?

No I'm not sure it was. And I tried unhooking the battery for 30 min.

If the car was OK before and it isn't now, then it is quite possible that some plug or harness has become unplugged or damaged. Take a look at the wires inside the rubber accordian boots in the front of your doors. Check both the driver and passenger door harnesses. Pull off the accordian boots and verify the wires and harness plugs for damage. Maybe you inadvertently damaged these wires while your door was open. They are very susceptible to chafing or damage.

You can contact Bill Curlee on this forum who is our electronics guru. I'm sure he can help you with this. Try looking up some of his write ups on the subject.

Ok I'll try and look him up. I unhooked both seat harness's. As that's the only thing that I unplugged. The driver seat circuit breaker was so hot it blistered my finger when I touched it. I tried plugging the passenger seat one in the spot of the driver one and as soon as it touches the terminals it kinda arcs and starts getting hot. I'm confused. The seat plugs are still unplugged.

Big picture it seems like you have a stuck switch, module, and/or relay that is causing a motor(s) to try and run. The circuit breaker is hot from having to open and close. The power to the seat control system is "always on" even if the ignition key is out. We have seen this type problem happen. Water on the seat controls can do this. That may be why someone was selling the seat. When all is said and done/fixed, replace that circuit breaker. Bad circuit breakers can cause a fire and you have one that has been really worked over. If you are handy and are good with an ohmmeter we can help you but we need more info on your car.

Year and the following:

Do you have the memory seats option?

If so, with or without electric telescoping/tilt steering wheel? The steering wheel motors are in the circuit too if you have this feature.
