Default Window switch

I know this has been asked several times on here.I searched but could never find a definitive answer and explanation. Will a window switch with the memory option work on a car without the option? The plug style looks the same with a couple of the pins being different.Anyone tried this to see if they will or won't work?Seems like the memory switch is WAY cheaper and more available.

Did you ever try this??? I just searched for this exact question... The memory switch is 1/4 the price of one without, And I could care less as long as the plug in works..... ???????

thanks,
Don

Not at home now with my FSM but it should show any differences in the connector/system pin/wiring. My initial thought would be that they would be interchangeable. I can check later.

I did buy one but they sent one without memory.I never got to try it as they sent the one that I needed. That is why I never posted a follow-up to the original question.

I looked at the FSM. They only show one connector for the driver side door switch. It has all the pin outs for the Memory design. I next looked at the passenger side connector and it is identical in design only many of the pin outs show as "not used".

My answer based on the FSM, you can use a Memory or non Memory switch in the drivers side.

Thank you for your time in researching this. I will buy the power switch with memory and plug it in to see if it works. Best case is? It works and I have no memory... since I didn't have it to begin with? No big deal. If it does NOT work? oh well... I'm only out about $100. I can live witht that.

thanks again!!

It will plug right in and work like the normal switch, but the memory function will not, I have read that if you swap the module on the drivers seat with one out of a memory car, that after making some changes in the programming it can be done, but I can't sweat to that.

You are welcome. Please let us know if it works for you. Apparently the last post agreed that it should. Have you thought abut just buying a good used switch from eBay, etc. for a whole lot less?
