Default Texas speed 228r cam

What's the highest RWHP and torque with a texas speed 228r cam with 114 lsa with a 346ci engine? what supporting mods? Thanks in advance for your replies. This should be interesting.
Please post who tuned and what type of dyno.
Dyno graphs would be great.

WOW! Let me give you a suggestion. Spend the rest of the weekend with the search on this forum. Then spend a couple of days on YouTube. Then spend a couple of days on google. Then after that go over to LS1Tech and do it all again.

Wow! Your a funny guy! A lot of people here are big fans of that cam and probably would not mind sharing their results. I'm asking because myself and others thought my combo should make more than it did.

2002 ls6 stock short block. LPE ported ls6 heads. Trunion upgrade. Ported fast 92 w ls2 tb. Vararam. Ls2 MAF . 42lb injectors. Tsp 228r 114lsa cam. 160 stat. Long tube headers. Xpipe w/o cats. Ti mufflers. No under drive pulley. It is m6 - 3.42, c5 z06 wheels.
411rwhp@6500/370rwt@4800. Torque stays over 340 from 3800-6800, torque starts at 285 @1800. Rwhp is 400+ from 5800-6800. Drive ability is great! It will pull 3rd gear with light throttle from 1000rpm. It handles 6th gear cruising from 60 mph without complaints. Atco should be very interesting.

Impressive numbers especially considering the smaller tb and maf. Same dyno too Would you happen to know how much ignition timing? You got about 28 more rwhp that mine did. ????
thanks for the reply

You really need to go run the car at the drags, get a mph number which speaks to the HP at the wheels and see what you think.

Everything in your combo is a known....except for the heads. I don't recall others using them.

As far as timing, a few degrees isn't going to find you much in the way of HP. I would have to assume your tuner set it up right.

I have no clue where I'm at HP wise, but my car runs 121-122 in the 1/4 mile, it's an A4. My car likes 20 degrees of timing at the torque peak. It also likes 12.3:1 AF on E10.

My cam is a bit smaller, my heads are better. The rest is reasonably similar.

I was going to go to atco on Tuesday, but the forecast is 95 and very humid. I'll probably wait for a little Better conditions. I was told by my tuner, his guestimate on trap speed 120-124
Thanks for your input

A buddy of mine has a 2001 z06. It has headers and a Vararam only. He got the ring problem that 2001 z06's are known for so he had the motor rebuilt with a 228r cam on a 112lsa. He put out 393rwhp with it. He had his motor forged as well during the rebuild so his numbers might be a tad less than someone with a stock internal ls6.

Not really. Bigger tb does not mean better

the LS6 intake and a pp 78mm tb are very very good.

air velocity is higher with small tb vs volume of a 102tb

Ideal may be a fast or some other 90mm tb attached to an LS6 intake.

Sounds about right IMHO. What does the highlighted phrase mean?

In a nutshell, it's just stronger internals (pistons, etc) that lower your compression costing a few hp compared to stock, BUT if you go boosted you can up the boost quite a bit to make a lot more power safely. It's just a stronger engine, there's more to it but that's just a quick summary.

Dyno graphs would be great.

This is the Dyno from my 99 FRC with the LS1. Mods I have are FAST 92mm intake manifold, Ls2 throttle body, stock heads (853s), LG 1-3/4 long tubes, and Varam cold air intake. Got it tuned by Cicio performance.
