Well... I had a chance to test it. I planned on bringing it back to my house and take pics of the numbers and the different screens but once you go through the screens you can't go back. That sucks...

The screen is real hard to see in the sunlight, but when the sun goes down it looks almost like an Indiglo watch, very easy to see. I'll post a pic.

In the manual they explain how to download your numbers to a file on your PC, I did so and here were the results... Not too sure how accurate they are.

*** RACE STATS ***
Race Date: 02/20/20 02:01:53
Race Temperature: 203
Spurt Start/End Index: 750 872
Unit Gravity(X/Y/Z): 289 9 983
Unit Forward(X/Y/Z): 973 109 -290
1/4m : 12.099s at 112.06MPH
60' : 2.471s
330' : 5.741s
1/8m : 8.194s at 104.11MPH
1000' : 10.238s
60MPH : 4.383s

It also includes numbers so you can graph your times... Here is a sample:

1636,5458,12.044,112.36,1310.1,1,1840,-0.039,-0.152,0.928,-0.316

1638,5460,12.059,112.30,1313.4,1,1840,0. 020,-0.132,0.863,-0.239
1639,5461,12.066,112.25,1314.6,1,1840,0. 037,-0.122,0.869,-0.224
1640,5462,12.073,112.20,1315.8,1,1840,0. 013,-0.126,0.912,-0.261
1641,5463,12.081,112.16,1317.0,1,1840,-0.030,-0.131,0.941,-0.309
1642,5464,12.088,112.11,1318.2,1,1840,-0.010,-0.114,0.905,-0.278
1643,5465,12.095,112.08,1319.4,1,1888,0. 013,-0.081,0.887,-0.248

What kind of calibration do you mean?
It's not too bad it was just harder in the sunlight... Just don't try it in the parking lot at Summit Racing with your top down. :D

Can you give us more info on what you have to calibrate and once calibrated with, for example , the weight of the vehicle, do you have to recalibrate it every time you turn it off and on. How does the data compare with results from the old model or from a drag strip if you have run one? I thought that the software to load on the PC was being shipped later. Is that not the case and if not how were you able to download it into a meaningful format on your PC?

Heck, I forgot I have an Old G-Tech myself! Thanks for reminding me! :) When I get my car back from the shop I will test out my new Mods. ;)

That new unit looks very cool.

It's diffucult to describe the calibration so I will take a picture of the instructions and post them... Once it is calibrated it appears (so far) that you do not need to calibrate it again. Setting the weight is easy, you just choose "vehicle weight" on the menu and enter the number.

I never had the old model so I cannot compare... I've had my car run an 11.17 at the dragstrip (with a great driver, not me...) so I know that 12.09 was possible, I didn't have a good launch so the numbers were low. (kind of nervous, was running on the highway)

They do not include software (they do give you the cable), they say it will be released later. The software they are releasing will be able to download the data and put it into charts and graphs automatically. In the manual they give you the website of a program that will download the raw text data from the Gtech and you can manipulate that manually. I posted samples from the file above.

Thanks guys. I know they're not too related, but I was initially going to get a MAF Translator and get the car dynoed---both for the MAFT but also to see what hp and tq I got from adding the MAFT, a Vortex Rammer, a Power Duct, and take out the MAF screen. Then I started looking around at other ways to do the air/fuel ratio, etc. but didn't like sending the PCM away, the HyperTech had some bad reviews as did Steve Cole on Powerloader. So I thought "to heck with the a/f", I'll just get a G-Tech and save on the dyno. I saw the G-Tech in WCC but also the Competition one in Mid-America and decided on that.

Well, I put in an order online for Mid America but told them not to process it if it was back-ordered. They called this morning and said that not only was it back-ordered for a few weeks, but that the price had been increased by the manufacturer to $349. I canceled the order and called G-Tech and they said that it wouldn't be out for another two months---even though I recalled reading something about it on the Forum. So then I did a search and found this post.

I called Summit Racing and they were really nice and I just ordered one for the original $249.95. So you guys just saved me $100 and there is no CA sales tax and has cheaper shipping too. I mentioned the Forum and their return policy as being the reason I was shopping there.

By the way, I read in an article that it measures rwhp instead of engine hp and assume that's correct, right? If so, I already have a dyno sheet so I can make comparisons between before and after the air induction mods.

Thanks again. This Forum is great.

I just got a note from Summit Racing that mine shipped yesterday, the same day ordered, and I should have it in 2-4 days. I did a FedEx "tracking" on it through their website and sure enough, it's on its way!

I'm pretty excited about getting this and will be able to share it with some of my C5 friends too. I wonder if it might help my friend who does autocrossing?

For all of you "old pro" G-Tech'ers, How close is the HP rating to a dyno, and how close to strip timing is it for 1/8, 1/4 etc?
Thanks

I have the old one and the new one and the old was very accurate for me.How do I know ....well I used it at the track and it was off by no more than 1/10th of a second and most of the time it was off by a mere 1/100th of a second. The key to get accurate results in the old unit is the setup. It must be mounted tight, straight and level. The mph is higher due to the G-Tech gives you the mph at the exact end of the 1/4 mile and the track averages the last 60 feet.I will be using my new G-Tech at the track soon so I will see how good it is....It gives you your 1/4 and 1/8 time and 60 ft, 330 ft, 1000 ft, and 0-60 mph all in one run.

Finally got my new G-Tech Performance meter. :)

For those that have theirs already I'm sure you will agree it is a GREAT little device. The wierd part is calibration. Man, what a pain! Some of the calibration is like a video game!

The good part is, after it finally IS calibrated it doesn't have to be done again unless there is an extreme temperature change or you move it to another vehicle.

What is everyone entering for the vehicle weight on a coupe? I haven't officially weighed mine yet so I used the GVWR on the door of 3713 lbs. Since this weight factors in 2-180 lb occupants I subtracted off 180 lbs to get a rough weight with me as the sole occupant. I also assume this figure is with a full tank of fuel.

So for now I am using a vehicle weight of 3533 (3713 - 180) and entered this into the G-Tech.

Anyone weigh their Coupe with a full tank?

BTW, one neat feature, especially for you M6 drivers, is that it has a built in sequential shift light that uses ultra bright LED's. You just program in your RPM redline and your good to go! :yesnod:
